The much awaited Gypsies Live in Houston concert blasted off on May10, 2008 in downtown Houston watched by more than 500 singing & dancing fans. It was an awesome performance by Sunil, Piyal, Ronnie, Radhika and the Gypsies band cheered by an audience from all over Texas and surrounding States. Gypsies started off with a slow number and then quickly increased the tempo and in no-time the dance floor was full with folks enjoying the music and dancing to an unforgettable stream of hit after hit from the Gypsies.

Gypsies and Ronnie entertained the crowd with fast moving Baila as well as some great oldies. Sunil spiced up their songs with references to Houston and Texas which ear-splitting roars from the crowd. The music was so captivating that kids and teenagers who may have not listen to Gypsies was dancing with glee. Sunil got the crowd to sing their hit song "Ayi" which was about politicians in Sri Lanka getting rich.

Ronnie was a hit too with his rendition of popular hits from famous Sri Lankan Aritists and the crowd enjoyed every bit of it. He and Radhika did a duet with the crowd joining in and dancing. Gypsies proved that they are the best band in Sri Lanka with there flawless performance of "Hotel California".

Gypsies kept the crowd on there feet late into the night with the band doing a wonderful job of backing the singers and entertaining the crowd. As Sunil mentioned, all good things must come to an end and they performed there last song with the crowd still on there feet and ready for more. The Sri Lankan-Americans in Texas as well as Oklahoma, Louisiana, Florida and as far as Scotland enjoyed the show.

The concert was organized by the Gypsies Organizing Committee in conjunction with SLAAH. The Committee did a fantastic job in putting this show together in such a short time and providing the opportunity for all the Sri Lankan-Americans in Texas and other states to enjoy some great music. Without their dedication and perseverance, the concert would not have taken place. The committee would like to thank the Gypsies, Ronnie, for coming to Houston for the show, the committee members who worked tirelessly to put the show together, the ticket agents for doing a fantastic job of selling all the tickets, the host families for opening there homes for the Gypsies and last but not least, our spouses who tolerated our late night meetings, constant phone calls, and entertaining the band during their stay in Houston.
